This is a great little inn to stay at in Hilton Head if you want to stay away from the hustle and the bustle of the main resorts. Came here during off-peak season so the prices were pretty good for the amazing room I got. The Inn is beautiful and a perfect place for singles, couples or groups on vacation (probably not that great for kids though). The garden is very relaxing and I chose to eat breakfast outside during my stay to soak in the weather. ummm, and breakfast?? YUMMY!! One of the best included breakfasts I've ever had. SO much variety it was hard to stop coming back for more. The room I had was huge with every amenity you could ask for, and very large bathrooms which is definitely not the norm for many hotels nowadays. Like the other posters, I didn't use the spa services, but I would definitely give them a try should I find myself in Hilton Head again. Only negative thing about the Inn is it's location. If you are looking for something right on the beach or within walking distance, this isn't the place for you. But you know what? That was kind of a bonus since once you left the beach behind for the night you got to come back to this relaxing atmosphere.....

We stayed here after hearing about it serendipitously. We really enjoyed our stay. Very quaint inn with a beautiful garden that was absolutely full of birds in the morning! I will definitely stay here again. Just as a follow up to the three star rating from last year: I never really check baseboards, but did this time. Ours had been cleaned recently and overall I definitely felt like it had been well cleaned. Also, the receptionist was very helpful and went out of her way to help us with an issue that wasn't hotel related, so to me it seemed like they had addressed the previous issues.

In a nutshell - I WOULD recommend the Main Street Inn to friends (with full disclosure of the issues). I would stay here again if I go back to Hilton Head. Rooms are nicely appointed and quiet. Breakfast is included, is very generous and has a selection to please all. Their coffee is fantastic! The hotel could be very special with some attention. The longer story for those of you who want more info. We arrived on a Saturday, a little before check-in time. When we entered the lobby the associate jumped up from the couch from where she had been watching TV and walked toward the desk in a guilty manner. She looked us over as she approached the desk, but never greeted us verbally. She never spoke until I stated who we were, said we had reservations and realized we were early, and asked if there were any chance we could check in early. She continued to be silent and acted as if we were really imposing on her. She never warmed up and continued with a condescending and judgmental attitude although she did let us check-in early. Her attitude was so bad that if the stay had not been pre-paid we would have left. The room was lovely, private, and quiet; but filthy. I have uploaded pictures of the dust accumulation which has taken place over YEARS! Don't get me wrong, the room had been cleaned, the tub, toilet and sink were clean. The floors where they could be cleaned easily were clean. However, anything that took ANY extra effort, such as the area where the carpet meets the wall, baseboards, windows, blinds, etc. were FILTHY with dust accumulation. The room had a refrigerator with an ice-maker, which was very nice, but the ice-maker had been leaking for a long time. The carpet around the refrigerator was ruined, and the floor and baseboard were rotting. We attempted to discuss all of these issues with the manager when she arrived on Monday morning, but she greeted us with the same attitude that the associate in the lobby had upon check-in on Saturday so we decided not to frustrate ourselves.

you MUST stay here! It is absolutely wonderful!! I fully believe you will not find a better, classier, more relaxing Inn on the entire Hilton Head Island. Do not be fooled by the low price and think they are in some way not as great as the more expensive "resorts". This Inn is the perfect place for romantic weekends or singles on vacation. The price is lower than the big 'resort' hotels and the amenities are much better! There is a private and serene garden surrounding an elegant pool and hot tub after you pass through the breezeway. they offer free wine and beer in the evenings and free hot breakfast with delicious coffee and juice, milk and cereal, yogurt and granola, and eggs and bacon and french toast and pancakes and danishes and so on and so on. They also provide bath robes in each huge bathroom. I didn't buy any spa services, but they offer a full range of massage and facial treatments! This place is the epitome of bliss. If I had to decide between visiting the Elysian fields or the Main Street Inn, I'd chose the Main Street Inn. It was THAT great! One note: Don't bring your children. It's not beachfront. It's not Disney World. And there are no coloring books available at the front desk!

We spent a week here in the beginning of October. It is a very different kind of hotel. It isn't near the beach and definitely not a place I would stay with kids. Breakfast is included and is a little heartier and what you find at some places. They still use keys, which could be a good or bad thing depending on your point of view. My one complaint is that we never got new glasses to replace the ones we used, which I don't understand at all. In all, it was a nice, quiet place to stay. There is a spa on site but I didn't use that so I can't speak to that service. There are frigs in the rooms so bring drinks and food. Small tvs but I didn't really care about that.

Great place. Small/intimate, quiet, friendly and southern hospitality at its best. If you're looking for a chain hotel this isn't it--it's better.

Really enjoyed getting away from the hustle and bustle of tourism in HHI. This is perfect for a romantic getaway. Very quiet and serene. No beach access. Great breakfast and quiet courtyard for relaxing. Enjoyed. Rooms could use a thorough, deep cleaning otherwise I'd give it a 5 stars.

Main Street Inn hosted me and my spouse for two nights recently. We had a pleasant experience as we were new to HHI. The room itself was simple yet elegant. Very clean and quiet. The maid service kept everything spot on clean and fresh towels readily available. The garden was quiet and well kept even in the winter month of our travel. It was nice to be able to stay away from the resorts and just be able to come and go as we pleased. They even offered happy hour every night with complementary drinks which many of the guests took advantage of. The only drawbacks for us were the breakfast which was nothing special (eggs, bacon, potatoes, waffles, or cereal) and the office staff. The office staff was plenty pleasant enough and handled the check in and out fine but us not being familiar with the Island we would ask them for suggestions on activities and restaurants. Not only were they not able to tell us something that matched the criteria we gave them but couldnt tell us how to get there. When we go somewhere on a vacay we like to ask locals the good places to eat and the hotel staff should be able to tell us the local favorites. The couldnt and it was disappointing.
